Tragedy of World Cricket

The cricket world is facing its worst match scheduling and time management. I don’t know why the ICC had scheduled ICC Champion Trophy 2013 as it is commonly known that it rains in England during this part of year. Adding bitterness to this ICC did not planed reserve day facility for this tournament not even for knockouts and final match. A shameful thing that last ICC Champions Trophy’s 50 overs final had been reduced to 20 overs each just because of shortsightedness of ICC officials to keep a reserve day for match. During such prestigious tournament no one wants the matches to be rained of. This is not first time that any final match had been affected by rain, 2002 Champions Trophy was still remembered due to same tragedy but that time instead of having reserved day the championship had to be shared between India and Sri Lanka because unfortunately it rained on both days.

Then BCCI comes with an excuse that teams are having tight schedule. India, Sri Lanka and West Indies needs to travel to West Indies where they will play a tri-series starting in four days after Champions Trophy, so it became difficult to go with reserve day. This is not good enough excuse because Champions Trophy is an ICC event and washout in such event results loss to commercial business and spectators. But what about the disappointment of cricket fans those are expecting entertainment and feeling excited for their supporting team. Nobody was expecting such final match of Champions Trophy.

I don’t think that 20 overs are sufficient for deciding champions for such tournaments and who knows that 50 overs knockouts may gave different champions to the world. The supporting incident for my this comment is rain affected match in which West Indies losses in D/L applied match as result of which South Africa qualified for semifinals of ICC Champions Trophy 2013. South Africa again repeats their disappointing chocking performance in knockouts which results into one sided semifinal. So if that match was played with reserved day then the equations might be different, so was the champions.

Currently India, Sri Lanka and West Indies tri-series is going in which initial matches were already been affected by rain. But good thing is that reserve days are scheduled for this series. If ICC could bring in Hawk eye, UDRS (Umpire Decision Review System) and all the other facilities, then why should they not make reserve day official. I think that tournament knockouts must be played with reserve day facility.

So what a tragedy, ICC Champions Trophy final had been played without reserved day and league matches in tri-series are played with reserved days….!

No ICC Champions Trophy After 2013

This is the last time that cricket fans will experience thrill of ICC Champions Trophy for One Day International matches.  This Sunday will be historic for world cricket as it will witness the last ICC ODI Champions. So it will be amazing to see who will win ICC Championship crown for last time. England who has given amazing gift of cricket to the world is still in search of ICC championship. So this will be last chance for the originators of cricket for their first ICC Championship title. India had second chance to grab the championship title and show the world that World Cup 2011 is not coincidence.

ICC World Test Championship 2017

This is seventh and last ICC Champions Trophy as it is to be replaced by ICC World Test Championship which is estimated to be held in 2017. This tournament will start with group stage matches followed by playoffs and final.  The tournament will be spread over a long period of time as per the announcement till date. After league matches top four teams will qualify for semis. Amazing to see how ICC will handle drawn match results. ICC also has plans to organize second Test Championship in 2021.

GOD IS OUT FROM IPL……!

Eden garden at Kolkata becomes victim of another historic moment as Just after the historic win over Chennai Super Kings, Sachin Tendulkar has called off for IPL t-20. After long 6 sessions wait of IPL, Mumbai Indians got median title this Sunday. Unfortunately he was not member of playing 11 for final match because of wrist injury but everybody had seen him enjoying at dugouts. During this long 6 years journey his best performance came in IPL 2010 when they reached to final but that time they were just one step away from title. The great coincidence is that he decides to quit from IPL this session and they lift the trophy first time. We can say that it’s his retirement which turns lucky for Mumbai Indians. Most of his teammates had dedicated this median IPL title to Master Blaster and it’s good to see him retiring with trophy. His fan will miss him in t-20 format and they had to wait for some time to saw him in action again.  Finally
GOOD BY IPL....!

One More Double Ton

Master blaster is heading towards one more double ton but this time race is not about runs but it’s about number of test matches played. The legend needs two more test matches to become first cricketer to play 200 test matches in the history of cricket. He has to wait till the end of this year to play his next test match scheduled against South Africa. So South Africa will be lucky to witness again Sachin’s double ton. So just hold your nerves till November and wishes him best of  luck….!.

Damn The 100th

Iconic Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar scripted history by becoming the first cricketer in the world to score 100 international centuries.”
This time celebrations was muted, but it has been overshadowed by a sense of relief. This would be the first time that a Sachin had scored century and everybody is feeling relief rather than celebration (may he also).Looking into last 2 years,2010 was brilliant year for him as he scored total 8 centuries. He scored his 99th century on 11th march against South Africa in World Cup 2011.After that match he got 4 opportunities for golden ton in World Cup 2011 but he failed on every occasion. Since then it had been an long wait for the master blaster, whose every inning was watched with anticipation and excitement. He came so close so many times, in Oval against England , in Mumbai against Westindies or in the first two Tests in Australia. He was out of form during India's Test and ODI whitewash at the hands of England last year and though he recovered quite a bit in the later series, the hundred was still not coming.

Tendulkar seemed to be in good touch during the Tests but his form waned after he missed the 100th hundred despite coming close a few time.Following this, he made himself available for the ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and Australia but there too, the milestone proved elusive.A long wait of 33 innings has frusted all his fans,But the wait finally ended in familiar sub-continental environment. When asked him about his feeling after 100thton, he said he felt 50 kilos lighter after the century, he was obviously referring to the pressures of expectations that he had to carry for over a year. None of us can feel that pressure as those who haven't gone through it won't know how difficult that was. This inning adds one more record of scoring century against all ODI playing teams.

This golden moment could have been better, against quality opponent and on a wicket that didn’t really have the typical subcontinent feel about it. It could have happened in Australia, or in England, or during the World Cup. But then, this is not the time to brood on what could have been. This is the time to congratulate, celebrate ,chear ,enjoy and hoping that best is yet to come....

A Milestone In World Cricket - "Sachin Tendulkar"

Actually records are made to be broken but the milestones are made over time.Sachin itself is a milestone that every cricketer dreams to achive.
In the early days he was not so famous but as time passes world was getting aware of this great cricketer. When a great cricketer of that time Sir Don Bradman watched Sachin's batting he got wondered because most of shots played by him are similar to his shots.Sir Don Bradman saw himself in Sachin. So he was invited by Sir Don Bradman on his birthday party.I think this was one of the greatest moment in his life.Unfortunately after few years world cricket lost Sir Don Bradman but world cricket was set to have a rise of new hero "SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR"
Now, Sachin has such position in world cricket that many former cricketers compares him with Sir Don Bradman. This king of records has one wish that is yet to be completed,a wish of winning a worldcup for India.Sachin has started his own practise for WC 2011 irrespective of others. You can also experience the change in his batting in last one year.Talking about test,he has scored 5 hundreds in last 7 matches. In ODI his unbeaten 200 is sufficient to tell complete story. His record in IPL 3 will clear the picture about his performance in the fasted mode of cricket. He is going with good touch & shown great confidence on young Indian team for WC 2011.Hope this combination gives better results.
